Q: What do you enjoy most about your job / field?
A: I strongly believe that what we do is important, no matter how small a part every pieces plays an integral role. I enjoy working in an industry that makes a conscious effort to better its surroundings and the people within those surroundings. I enjoy being able to work with like-minded people, being that of our customers, our employees, and especially our farmers. I enjoy being a salesman, the day-to-day interactions with our customers and the relationship we are able to build and network . I have learned so much these past 6 years working in this capacity – how everything is connected. It’s not just about eating healthy, it’s about providing a sustainable environment for us and our children’s future.
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: I’m passionate about the industry and hopeful for the future of it. I believe that it is all of our responsibility to create a more sustainable environment and to do that I know we all must work together to achieve this. I love seeing that in some of today’s schools, the youths are being taught sustainability in their curriculum. This makes me hopeful that one day down the road everyone will have been raised to know the importance of one’s footprint and the gravity of not respecting it.
Q: How many years of experience do have in this line of work? Where did you work prior to Resource Group?
A: In 2015 I will have been in the Organic Industry for 6 years. Prior to Resource Group I was employed by Goodness Greeness (Chicago), which at one time was one of the US’s largest privately held Organic Distribution companies, where I learned under some of the pioneers in this industry.
Q: What are 3 fun facts about yourself?
A: 1.) I was born in Oklahoma until I moved to Chicago to learn the Organic Produce industry where I lived for 5 years honing my craft before coming back to Oklahoma.
2.) I’m an avid daily runner, which is perfect segue to #3…
3.) In 2013, I placed in the top 5 in the Chicago Chiditarod Race out of 275 teams. (Chiditarod is Chicago’s Epic Urban Shopping cart race and charity food drive for the Greater Chicago Food Depository, where all the teams are dressed in costume attire. For that year’s race we raised $34,000 and a little over 17,000 lbs of food donate
