RESOURCE GROUP TEAM SPOTLIGHT: Say HELLO to Tara Lipscombe – Account Executive, Mid-Atlantic. Get to know Tara through this fun Q&A – not only a valuable team member, but someone who’s extremely passionate about improving the food landscape and accessibility of quality food.

Tara & Keir

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job / field?
A: Not only do I get to sell organic produce, which is how I think all produce should be grown, but I get to serve a very specific group of customers: i.e., people who are passionate about the health of the planet and other people. Plus, I get to work for the Resource Group! A wonderful group of guys who really know the business inside and out; are generous with their knowledge; have integrity; and are great to work with!

Q: What are you passionate about?
A: You might say I’m kind of a flower child. My parents became vegetarian when I was 5 and were very health conscious. It was an easy transition for me because I just loved animals so much, so as soon as I learned where meat came from I really never wanted anything to do with it after that. Nothing left to do but love your veggies! Especially chemical free veggies that don’t harm people, animals, water, soil, air, etc…

Q: How many years of experience do have in this line of work? Where did you work prior to Resource Group?
A: My first job in the wholesale distribution of organic produce was at Global Organic/Specialty Source. My start there really was serendipitous, I was working for an Ayurvedic wellness center in Sarasota, FL when I had to go pick up our order from Global. We used all organics to create specific diets to serve our clients going through detox, cleansing and rejuvenation. I had just found out the center would be closing its doors due to financial hardship and was worried about what I was going to do next. I mentioned this to the woman at the front desk and jokingly asked if they had any openings. She looked around and quietly said, send me your resume. I was thrilled! I worked there for 5 years before I decided I needed to move closer to my family in Virginia. Pat and I worked together at Global!

Q: What are 3 fun facts about yourself?
A: I’m originally from Canada, but I’ve lived more of my life here in the States. I’ve lived in Arizona, Florida and always come back to Virginia, where my parents moved 26 years ago. My fiancé, Keir, shares my love of animals and we have 3 dogs, 2 cats and have several bird feeders around the house so we can bird watch. I’m a complete sci-fi geek, but I guess that’s kind of the norm anymore, and Big Bang Theory feels like home, except for the quantum physics.
