Q: Tell us about MSRP – what does the company do, and what is its mission?
A: MSRP Foods leverages our relationships with distributors and retailers to more rapidly advance placement of responsibly produced products for both emerging and established brands, and provide a tailored comprehensive marketing approach matching the strength of the product line with the market best suited for success.
Q: Tell us a bit about you and your background – work experience/life experience:
A: I was raised in NY, have a degree in Psychology from Emory University and 25+ years of entrepreneurial experience in food, flowers and now, food again, centered around the supermarket industry. Prior to that, in my late 20’s I traveled around the world for 2 years, made a futile effort to sell electronic typewriters and word processing in San Francisco at the advent of computers (only upside was the company paid for an IBM sales training course- considered at the time to be one of the best in the country) and my very first job was at 13, as a paper boy.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job / field?
A: Building relationships and camaraderie with our family of producers to better promote their brands while also playing a part in a changing food landscape of healthier options and sustainability – the satisfaction of contributing to the greater good – a healthier world.
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: Organic farming, eradication of hunger, protecting the environment, animal rights, ethnic food, hiking/trekking/climbing, running, traveling and what I spend most of my time with…MSRP.
Q: How many years of experience do have in this line of work? Where did you work prior to Resource Group?
A: Actually, my life’s work has prepared me for MSRP. Sales, Mass Marketing, New Business & Brand Development, and the previous 5 years with my company, Go Organic Group, in the food brokerage & distribution sector here in Florida.
Q: What are 3 fun facts about yourself?
A: I’m a motorcycle enthusiast. I purchased my first bike (550 Honda) from a grad student who invited me to his family’s home, 2 hours from Atlanta, for a weekend to teach me how to ride, since I had never ridden a street bike before. Getting back to Atlanta was a nerve-racking experience. I do an outdoor boot camp at the YMCA 3 days a week…and physical therapy 4 days a week. For my 50th birthday I climbed Kilimanjaro.
Q: Why are you proud to work for MSRP / with Resource Group?
A: My partners in this new and exciting venture are Pat Bayor and Ron Cropper of Resource Group Solutions, who develop organic produce programs for our distributor partners. We share a similar vision of organic, local and responsible production. Both companies market products that make us better, and that’s something to be proud of.
