SPOTLIGHT on Frog Hollow Farm!

16 Nov SPOTLIGHT on Frog Hollow Farm!

SPOTLIGHT on one of our farm/producer partners, Frog Hollow Farm! “Farm To Table in 48 Hours” — You might remember their name from a post we did a couple of weeks ago on Warren Pears! This thriving 143-acre organic‬ farm located in Brentwood, CA is home to hundreds of trees that produce peaches, nectarines, cherries, apricots, apriums, plums, pluots, Asian & European pears, olives, persimmons, quince, apples & more. They’re certified organic with C.C.O.F. (California Certified Organic Farmers) and committed to sustainable practices. In fact, Farmer Al has chosen to go organic since 1989. They take great pride and are able to produce amazing organic food due to their commitment to steward their land with care and treading lightly, “so not only is the world a better, healthier place, but your neighbors and family are, too.” This ‪farm also uses sustainable labor practices. They tend their trees by hand and have a commercial kitchen on premises, so they provide year-round employment for more than just a handful of the local residents.

This farm serves local grocery stores, mail orders to customers, area Farmer’s Markets and a CSA program. They also regularly donate hundreds of pounds of produce to the Contra Costa Food Bank, and all fruit that’s too damaged to use for other purposes goes into their farm’s compost piles.

They’ve got a wonderful website with photos, recipes, a blog and additional information: http://www.froghollow.com/
