OTA INTRODUCES ORGANIC FRAUD PREVENTION PROGRAM -Specialty Food News

29 May OTA INTRODUCES ORGANIC FRAUD PREVENTION PROGRAM -Specialty Food News

“The Organic Trade Association has launched a pilot project to prevent and detect fraud in the global organic system. The three-month project was initiated to develop a voluntary fraud prevention program for organic companies, beginning with a “best practices” guide to facilitate the industry-wide implementation of systems and measures to prevent organic product fraud, both in the U.S. and abroad.

Eleven members of the Global Organic Supply Chain Integrity Task Force are participating in the pilot project, including Clarkson Grain Company Inc., Egg Innovations LLC, Global Organics Ltd., and MOM’s Organic Market. The USDA’s National Organic Program, the Accredited Certifiers Association, and NSF International will review and provide feedback on the recommendations put forth by the task force, as well as provide support on implementation and adoption efforts.” -Specialty Food News
